This 6-day, R-tinerary guide begins with shopping in Fort Myers for essentials.  While on the island, spend time at the beach looking for unique and rare shells only found in this region of the world.  Lunch on a tiny island only accessible by boat and motor around other equally small, exclusive islands.

Explore local shops on Sanibel Island which specializes in one of a kind jewelry and art.  Then, delve into the Edison and Ford Winter Estates.  Drive to the quaint, colorful fishing village and artsy town of Matlacha for lunch.  Kayak through the mangroves in Roosevelt Channel.  And spy numerous manatees swimming nearby.

Be lucky enough to catch a Florida Inshore Grand Slam while fishing.  Finally, watch the sunrise sitting on Adirondack chairs at Jensen’s Twin Palm’s Resort.  And toast the sunset with a glass of wine at the Mucky Duck.  Enjoy fresh seafood and specialty drinks from local restaurants on the island and if in season, dine on stone crabs for an unbelievable feast.

Too hot and buggy when we were there. The restaurants and beaches were amazing, but the heat was a bit too much for us.
