Description

The deserts of Arizona offer spectacular red buttes, mesas situated against cobalt skies and the largest, slowest growing cacti in the nation.  Add some deep and narrow canyons, richly colored sandstone monuments, as well as dry, arid temperatures and this is a must-see American West road trip.

R-tinerary’s planned, tested and organized 8-day adventure in the deserts of Arizona from Saguaro National Park near Tucson to Camelback Mountain in Phoenix.  And then to the absolute must-see locations in Page and onto the classic western icons of Olijato-Monument Valley.

Along our route visit Mission San Xavier del Bac.  Here one can contemplate the beautiful architecture, as well as the historical importance of this Spanish Catholic Mission Church.  Explore Taliesin West, a National Historic Landmark.  This was the winter home, school, and laboratory of Frank Lloyd Wright.  Peer down at the wonder of Horseshoe Bend along the Colorado River.

Journey through Upper Antelope Canyon, a magical and mysterious slot canyon.  It is a great place to take some incredible photographs.  Then traverse the rungs and ladders to view the spiral rock arches of Lower Antelope Canyon.  Walk around the Left Mitten on Wildcat Trial in the desert of Monument Valley staring in awe at the immense size of this monolith.

Finally, drive just over the border to the solitude of Valley of the Gods. Here travelers can gaze at the sandstone valley of isolated buttes, towering pinnacles, and wide open spaces.

R-tinerary has viewed these breathtakingly beautiful desert sights.  We have traveled the dirt and rocky roads and spied the storied American frontier.  In this guide, we share our detailed travel plans.  We provide information on our accommodations, dining choices, and excursions.  Also included are other recommendations for places to stay and dining options. Finally, we include activities for the active traveler and for the traveler looking for a more relaxed vacation.

Since we have done all the work, now you can have all the fun!
